Pythian Ave. Baptist Church has been in the heart of Springfield, Missouri for more than 130 years. We seek to Love God and Love People through all of life's ups and downs. We meet on Sunday mornings for Bible Study at 9:30 am and Worship is at 10:45am. We also have a Prayer meeting on Sunday Afternoon at 3:00 pm.
The church was first organized in August of 1891 as Boulevard Baptist Church. They were able to acquire land and meet at the current location.
Prior to 1921, with the leading of Rev. F. A. Landers the members voted to change the name to Pythian Ave. Baptist Church and start construction on the buildings currently in use. The upper level sanctuary was completed prior to 1934 and is still in use today.
In the early 1950's the church helped establish multiple churches around Springfield including Golden Ave. Baptist Church and Webster Park Baptist Church.
In the 1960's, our education building was constructed with the leading of Rev. Thomas Geers.
God has blessed Pythian Ave. Baptist Church through our first 130 years, and we know He will continue to bless us in the future.
